Body Contouring Perth

Body Contouring Perth

Body contouring, is a surgical or medical procedure aimed at reshaping an area of the body. The procedure may include strategies to remove extra skin, reduce excess fat, and reshape or contour the area. This helps contour the body and change their body frame

Have you lost a lot of weight? This usually results in excess skin and folds that can only be addressed with surgery. After significant weight loss, a body contouring surgery can drape the skin over underlying tissue.

Following significant weight loss, some individuals may experience redundant or inelastic skin that does not respond to non-surgical measures. In consultation with your surgeon, surgical options such as brachioplasty (arm lift), mastopexy (breast lift), abdominoplasty, circumferential lipectomy, lower body lift, thigh reduction, or liposuction may be discussed where clinically appropriate.

Risks & Complications

Infection, bleeding / hematoma, wound breakdown / healing issues, hypertrophic / keloid scars, swelling, bruising, seroma, pain, body asymmetry, scar asymmetry, scar migration, paresthesia, fat necrosis (subcutaneous lumps), revision surgery, umbilicus asymmetry or malposition, clots in legs & lungs.

Your first step to having a Body Contouring is to schedule an appointment with Dr Khan at West Coast Plastic Surgery. You can also contact us by phone at 0862303041 or by fax at 0862303042. Alternatively, you can send an email to admin@westcoastplasticsuregry.com.au. Someone from the team will get in touch with you to book your appointment and answer any questions you may have.

Medications may be prescribed to help manage swelling and discomfort during the early stages of recovery. The initial phase of wound healing generally occurs over a period of approximately 10 to 14 days, though this varies from person to person. Dr Khan will provide you with individualised post-operative instructions, including guidance around movement and physical activities such as walking, standing, lifting, bending, and straining. Deeper tissue healing can continue for several weeks.

Depending on your procedure, a pressure garment may be recommended during recovery to support the surgical site. In some cases, a surgical drain may be placed near the incision to manage fluid accumulation. Hospital stay duration will vary based on the procedure performed. It is advisable to arrange for someone to assist you at home during the first 24 hours after discharge.

Your surgical team will offer detailed instructions for wound care and post-operative management, which are essential to support safe recovery and help achieve the best outcome based on your unique treatment plan.

Following your initial consultation with Dr Khan, a comprehensive assessment will be conducted to determine which surgical options, if any, are appropriate for your individual needs. Information about the associated costs will also be provided at this time, in accordance with the specifics of your proposed treatment plan.
