Scar Revision

Is there a scar on your body that is thick, raised, or discolored and you would like to get it checked? Does the scar cause you pain? Would you prefer to make it less visible? Is there any restriction of movement because of the scar?
If yes, then a scar revision or a scar removal surgery may be the right procedure for you.

Scar revision can involve surgical and non-surgical treatments or a combination of the two. Scars can be wide, have train tracks, be raised, or discoloured. Depending on where they are located, they might cause functional issues too.

Among the non-surgical treatments, there are silicone therapy, massages and lasers. In contrast, surgical treatment involves excision, which can also be combined with non-surgical treatments. A consultation can help determine whether scar revision or treatment is suitable for your specific situation.

Your first step to having a laser scar removal or scar treatment is to schedule an appointment with Dr Khan at West Coast Plastic Surgery. Get your GP to send us a referral to apply for a Medicare rebate for your consultation (special conditions apply from Medicare). You can also contact us by phone at 0862303041 or by fax at 0862303042 for facial scars removal or scar revision surgery. Alternatively, you can send an email to admin@westcoastplasticsuregry.com.au. Someone from the team will contact you to book your appointment and answer any questions you may have about scar revision or removal.

To support healing and scar management, taping may be recommended after stitches are removed. If you feel nauseous, experience shortness of breath, heavy bleeding or increase in pain, you must notify your surgeon. Scar tissue is more susceptible to sunburn following surgery, so avoid exposure to the sun during this time. Paper tape is usually worn for 6 weeks after surgery with or without silicone ointments or sheets. After your scar revision, you will receive specific instructions regarding how to care for your wound.

After your first consultation with Dr Khan, he will be able to assess your needs and requirements. Treatment plan tailored to your clinical needs will be provided to you. Following your consultation, the cost of your personalised procedure will be provided to you.
