Dupuytren’s disease affects the palmar fascia deep under the skin. In most cases, the ring and little fingers will be affected but any of the others fingers, including the thumb, can be involved, . Dupuytren’s disease is associated with smoking, drinking, repetitive minor trauma, and manual labour.

Recovery time for surgery depends on its type and extent. More radical excision of the disease and the skin results in a longer recovery period than a limited fasciectomy and needle aponeurotomy. The post-operative instructions Dr Khan will provide will help guide you through this period. If everything goes as planned, wounds can heal after 2 weeks. We will remove the sutures in our clinic 10-14 days after surgery. Your job type will determine when you can return to work. As soon as all wounds have healed, a hand therapist will help you regain strength and range of motion. you might need to wear a splint for a while.
