Your Breast Surgery Options

Breast surgery involves procedures that address the size, shape and position of the breasts. At West Coast Plastic Surgery in Perth, we offer specialist-led breast reduction, breast augmentation and breast lift (mastopexy) procedures. Patients may consider breast surgery due to physical discomfort, changes following pregnancy or weight fluctuation, or concerns relating to breast proportion or symmetry. Each procedure is considered following a comprehensive consultation, where suitability, available options and potential risks are discussed to support informed decision-making and personalised treatment planning.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery aims to reduce breast size and weight for patients experiencing physical discomfort or functional concerns. Suitability is assessed during consultation, with careful discussion of options, risks and expected recovery.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure used to alter breast volume using implants or fat transfer. During consultation, we assess individual anatomy and goals to determine suitability, the best approach (implants or natural fat transfer), and potential risks.

Breast Lift / Mastopexy

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, addresses breast position and shape by reshaping and lifting breast tissue. A thorough consultation is used to assess suitability and discuss surgical options and considerations.

Breast Revision Surgery

Revision breast surgery corrects or refines the results of previous breast procedures, addressing issues such as implant complications or asymmetry. Consultation is used to assess suitability and discuss surgical options, expected outcomes and potential risks.

Why Choose Us

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suitable for breast surgery?

You may be a suitable candidate for breast surgery if you are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and are seeking to address concerns such as breast size, shape, symmetry, or position. Ideal candidates are non-smokers (or willing to quit), have stable weight, and have completed childbearing (though surgery is possible before). During your consultation, Mr Khan will assess your individual anatomy, medical history, and aesthetic goals to determine if breast surgery is appropriate for you. All cosmetic breast surgery patients require two consultations before proceeding.

West Coast Plastic Surgery offers a comprehensive range of breast procedures including:

Augmentation: Increase breast size and volume using implants

Breast Reduction: Reduce breast size to alleviate physical discomfort and improve proportion

Mastopexy (Breast Lift): Reposition sagging breasts to a higher, firmer position

Augmentation-Mastopexy: Combination of lift and implants for volume and position

Breast Revision Surgery: Correct or improve results from previous breast surgery, including implant removal or exchange

Each procedure is tailored to your individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.

All cosmetic surgery patients require two consultations before proceeding with surgery. During your first consultation, you’ll meet with Mr Khan for a comprehensive assessment, discuss your goals, review treatment options, and receive personalised recommendations. The second consultation allows you to review your customised quote, ask additional questions, discuss any required investigations, and finalise your surgical plan. For cosmetic surgery patients, the second consultation fee is reimbursed if you proceed with surgery.

Before Surgery: Previous breastfeeding does not preclude you from having breast surgery. Many patients seek breast surgery specifically to address changes that occurred during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

After Surgery: The impact on future breastfeeding ability depends on the type of procedure and surgical technique used. Breast augmentation typically has minimal impact, particularly with submuscular implant placement and inframammary incisions. Breast reduction and lift procedures may affect milk ducts and could impact breastfeeding ability. During your consultation, Mr Khan will discuss the specific implications for your chosen procedure and surgical approach, allowing you to make an informed decision based on your future plans.

As with any surgical procedure, breast surgery carries potential risks and complications. Common temporary side effects include swelling, bruising, discomfort, and temporary changes in nipple or breast sensation. Potential complications may include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, implant-related issues (for augmentation), wound healing concerns, and anaesthetic risks.

Mr Khan provides comprehensive consultation and discusses all possible outcomes, benefits, and potential complications and risks before surgery. We prioritise your safety through careful patient selection, surgical planning, use of accredited facilities, and thorough post-operative care. Most patients experience successful outcomes with minimal complications. During your consultation, we’ll discuss risks specific to your chosen procedure and your individual circumstances.
