You may be a suitable candidate for body surgery or contouring if you are in good overall health, maintain a stable weight, have realistic expectations, and are seeking to address concerns such as excess skin, stubborn fat deposits, or body shape irregularities. Ideal candidates are non-smokers (or willing to quit) and have reached their goal weight or are close to it. Body contouring procedures are particularly beneficial for patients who have experienced significant weight loss and are left with excess, sagging skin. During your consultation, Mr Khan will assess your individual anatomy, medical history, skin elasticity, and aesthetic goals to determine which procedures are most appropriate for you. All cosmetic surgery patients require two consultations before proceeding.

Yes, multiple body contouring procedures can often be performed during a single surgical session, which can reduce overall recovery time and costs. Common combinations include abdominoplasty with liposuction, lower body lift with thigh reduction, or comprehensive post-weight loss procedures addressing multiple areas. However, the decision to combine procedures depends on several factors including your overall health, the extent of surgery required, anaesthetic considerations, and safety protocols. Longer surgical times carry additional considerations that must be carefully evaluated. During your consultation, Mr Khan will discuss which combination approach is safest and most effective for achieving your desired outcome whilst prioritising your wellbeing.
Recovery varies significantly depending on the type and extent of your procedure. Generally, you can expect:
Initial Recovery (1-2 weeks): Rest is essential. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are normal. Pain medication will be prescribed. You’ll need assistance with daily activities initially. Compression garments are typically required.
Wound Care: Our nursing team will see you regularly for wound checks as long as necessary. All post-surgery care and appointments are provided free of cost for 6 weeks.
Return to Activities: Light walking is encouraged early. Most patients return to desk work within 2-3 weeks. Strenuous activity and exercise typically resume after 6-8 weeks, depending on the procedure.
Follow-Up Care: You’ll have regular appointments with Mr Khan and our nurse during your recovery period, with follow-up extending from 3 months to 5 years depending on the treatment. We provide detailed post-surgery care instructions before your procedure, and our practice manager will call you the day after surgery to check on you.
As with any surgical procedure, body contouring surgery carries potential risks and complications. Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, discomfort, temporary numbness, and fluid accumulation (seroma). Potential complications may include infection, bleeding, scarring (which can be extensive depending on the procedure), wound healing issues, asymmetry, skin irregularities, blood clots, and anaesthetic risks.
Mr Khan provides comprehensive consultation and discusses all possible outcomes, benefits, and potential complications and risks before surgery, ensuring you have realistic expectations. We prioritise your safety through careful patient selection, thorough medical assessment, surgical planning in accredited facilities, and comprehensive post-operative care. The extent of scarring varies by procedure—abdominoplasty results in a horizontal scar across the lower abdomen, body lifts create more extensive scarring, and arm/thigh reductions leave visible scars that fade over 12-18 months. During your consultation, we’ll discuss risks and scarring patterns specific to your chosen procedure and individual circumstances.
